Pins on Lurline

I was so blessed to be able to spend a beautiful weekend up in the mountains with some of my favourite people. We rented a house, which was perfect for the 6 of us. It was freeeeezing in the mountains, but luckily the house had this lovely warm fire.

We decided to eat at Pins on Lurline after reading some great reviews. Pins on Lurline is a family owned fusion Japanese/ Italian restaurant located in a house on Lurline Street, Katoomba. It's about a 10 minute walk from echo point. We read online that the wife is Japanese, and the husband Scottish, hence the fusion. The house is really, really cute. It's an old-styled house turned emptied out and there's this lovely fireplace inside warming up the entire house/ restaurant. There's also accomodation available for two in another section of the house. We made a booking, and were given a nice table by the window.

The menu has a few sections, a Japanese udon noodle section, an Italian pasta section and 'blackboard specials', an Australian menu. I ordered the Tsukumi noodle soup with chicken, shallots and poached egg. There are two sizes- entree size for $12.50 and main for $17.00. I went with the entree, which was just the perfect size for me. The soup was slightly salty but otherwise it was a good bowl of udon.

This is a beautiful restaurant and the waitress was super friendly. Definitely a must try for a casual meal while at Katoomba.
