To celebrate the Easter Long weekend (and 5 days off school), my friends and I decided to go on another city eating adventure. Morena is a Latin American place in Surrey Hills, along Bourke Street, about a 10-15 minute walk from central.
It was quite quiet when we first got there (6.30pm), but soon was about half filled up. We all went with the 3 course menu, which we bought on groupon for about $40 each. For the entree, we had a choice of alpaca skewers or a salad. We'd all never had alpaca before, so thought to try it. The alpaca skewers weren't bad, but to be honest, it tasted just like a pork sausage. I really liked the anticucho sauce though, which really added to the taste. The waiter told us 'the cuter the alpaca, the nicer it tastes'.

The pork belly, however, was really nice. The vegetables were slightly too salty, but the beans balanced out the taste. Pork was very tender.

Finally, we got our dessert. Already very full, we barely finished the dessert. Dessert was probably my favourite part of the meal. I picked sweet potato and pumpkin donuts, a must try! The fruit sauce tops it off so well!

My general impression of the place was average, it was a very enjoyable night, but I don't think I'll be going back there anytime soon. I just don't think it'd be worth the money if not for the groupon.
